Central Library Floor (2010)

The floor of the Los Angeles Central Library, under the main rotunda near the entrance to the children’s section. Along the walls are the drawers formerly containing the Library’s card catalog, now supplanted by a computer database. The old cards festoon the walls of the elevators in the new Tom Bradley wing.

These drawers are permanently sealed shut, and labeled with small plaques indicating the contributor who has “sponsored” each drawer. The lower drawers, with their white labels, are still available for sponsorship.
