Teton Sunrise (1990)
An October sunrise illuminates the Teton Range in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming. This view is from Teton Point, off Highway 191.
If the weather forecast predicts a clear sky, it’s well worth getting up at 4 in the morning to watch the sun slowly reveal the glowing Tetons as it rises. (If you’re camping in the park rather than staying in Jackson as I did, you might get away with sleeping a little later.) Bundle up with layers of warm clothes, and wear gloves to protect your hands from the sting of a freezing-cold tripod.
